Between work, school, and other commitments and obligations, it’s ever so important to set some time aside for quality family bonding. In Singapore, it is a common practice for families to spend time together during weekends, whether that’s enjoying a home-cooked meal at home together, watching movies or heading outdoors to enjoy the latest family-friendly activity the little red dot has to
offer.
If you live in Singapore’s North-East and am currently struggling to figure out what you’re going to do on your next free weekend as a family, worry no longer. Here are suggestions for a fun day out the whole family can enjoy!
- Beat the heat, have some fun at the water playground/park
Here’s a list of where you can go for some splashing family fun- many of them are FREE too!
– Sengkang Swimming Complex
Nestled within Anchorvale Community Club, this
family-friendly complex offers a range of aquatic activities and facilities
that are perfect for all ages. From a wading pool and water play features for
the little ones, to water slides and diving boards, for the more adventurous,
there’s something for everyone here.
– Splash @ Kidz Amaze (Punggol Safra)
Splash @ Kidz Amaze is the first indoor water playground of its kind! If you’re like us and always worry about slathering enough sunscreen on your children, you’ll love the fact that it’s indoors. And that means you can play for hours in the ‘Enchanted Deep Sea’ without worrying about sunburn. With multiple play decks, a themed splash pad and five water slides, Splash @ Kidz Amaze promises endless weekend fun as a family.
– Happy Park at Waterway Point (Free admission)
When you’re done shopping at Waterway Point Mall, schlep the kids over to Happy Park. It’s got both wet and dry play areas for little ones that they’ll love exploring. There are lily pads to hop on, a small wading pool, and many small fountains to splash around in.
– KidzPlay Water Playground @ NEX (Free Admission)
Pirates Sea Adventure is suitable for children between 5 to 12 years old and offers water play options for families looking for a splashing good time! The main play structure is Pirate Ship-themed and offers various climbing structures, a slide, and more! There is also a trampoline with water sprouts, where little ones will be getting wet while bouncing away! - Spend the day at Coney Island
Easily accessible through the Punggol Promenade Nature Walk, Coney Island is a great place to explore with the family. Walk or cycle through the park’s winding nature trails and see what wildlife and greenery catches your eye or keep your children busy at the Casuarina Exploration area; an outdoor playground/obstacle course made from the timber of Casuarina trees. - Walk/Bike along the North Eastern Riverine Loop
Head outdoors for some fresh air and a healthy dose of Vitamin D! Discover less-travelled areas on Singapore on the 26km North Eastern Riverine Loop that links four parks, run through the heartlands of Buangkok, Sengkang and Punggol, and continues into the rustic landscapes of Punggol Beach, Punggol Promenade and Lorong Halus Wetland. The route will have you travelling alongside gleaming reservoirs and waterways and bring you to the open waters of Sungei Dekar and the Johor Straits. - Go Prawning
Looking for something new to do with the kids? Try prawning at Riviera Prawn Fishing and Hai Bin Prawning in Punggol! It’s much easier than fishing and less work too. Prawning can help your children practice their motor skills and patience, and older children will also get a chance to better understand where their food comes from. It’s a great way to spend some quality family time together. - Indoor Climbing at My Little Climbing Room
Take your kid climbing at My Little Climbing Room, Singapore’s first indoor climbing space for children. Located at Jalan Pelikat, the space contains various four-metre high walls that beginner climbers won’t find intimidating, as well as monkey bars and an obstacle wall to keep the climbing experience fun and fresh.
